Oliver Manufacturing Co., Inc. has been a staple within the Rocky Ford community for over 75 years. Since its development in 1930 by Oliver Steele, in St. Louis , Missouri and its move to Rocky Ford, Colorado in 1947, Oliver Manufacturing has grown from manufacturing gravity separators to also manufacturing Size Right, a precise cylinder sizer. Oliver Manufacturing originally operated from one of the four facilities from which all facets of the business are now run. The first building, located on Highway 50, just east of Highway 71 in Rocky Ford, was built by the companies' founder, Oliver Steele. This building continues to produce metal and wood parts for the larger machines. The second building on the same location was built in 1980 to house the business offices as well as the lab equipment. All assembly is done at the third location in Rocky Ford. The final of the four locations is located in La Junta in a building rented from the city where all of the machines go through their final preparations before being shipped around the world.

The relocation of the offices will not take place until sometime in the future, however, the remainder of the business will be moved by mid 2007. Oliver will keep its headquaters in Rocky Ford, moving only the personnel that have a need to do so. The new, and much larger, space will allow for new and improved products to be introduced as well as expansion of its current product line. All of which will allow Oliver Manufacturing to continue to provide their customers with high quality products that have put them at number one in the industry.

KING TACO 200 - Irwindale Speedway - Irwindale, CA

Oliver CarGaylord finishes in Top Ten, despite blistering temperatures, engine problems and accidents Scott Gaylord and the No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet team overcame record temperatures and engine problems caused by a bad plug wire, finishing 9th in the accident-riddled 28-car field. Scott remains in the top 8 in point standings in the NASCAR Grand National series. Gaylord has scored the most top-10s in series competition at Irwindale Speedway. He kept his streak going S aturday when he finished 9th in the King Taco 200. Scott has placed in the top 10 in 11 out of 13 races he has competed in at Irwindale. He also has registered top-five finishes in four of the last six events there, including a third-place finish earlier this year. The race … The King Taco 200 was the seventh event in a 12-race schedule and marks a turning point as competitors head into the second half of the season. This event is the second of two Irwindale stops the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series is making this year. The race was super hot for all of the 28 drivers, as the temperature hit 115 degrees during the day and was still 105 degrees at 7 p.m. on race night. "We were looking forward to running well after our third place finish at Irwindale in July, but we knew the heat would be a real factor in this race. We did everything we could to keep the car and me cool for the race," Scott said. "After starting far back in the field, we were really happy to be moving up fast. But then suddenly I felt the motor go down a cylinder, so from that point on I was trying to hang in there on 7 cylinders! After the race ended we found one of the ties that keep the plugs wires away from the headers had actually burned, so the plug wire broke free and then burned. "We've had some unbelievably bad luck this year, yet we've still managed to reamain in the top ten. Hopefully next week at Monroe we will see a change in our luck," Scott said.

June 2006

Oliver CarTwo races that #00 crew saves day The #00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary crew saved two DNF's and turned them into a 15th and 10th place finishes and now back home in Colorado after back to back races on the west coast. The much anticipated return to a road course June 24th at Infeneon Raceway in Sonoma California quickly took a turn for the worse on the first lap in the second turn when another car lost control and shot across the race track right into the #00 Oliver Chevrolet. With no where to go for avoidance Scott did the best he could to slow his car but just could not prevent the ultimate hit that flattened the tire and tore up the front corner of the car as well as the grill for the radiator intake. We imediatly came into the pits to replace the tire and pull out the body the best that we could, then we sent Scott back out to remain on the lead lap and catch up with the pack to allow us to come back into the pits with a plan to make repairs that would enable the car to stay competative. When Scott came back in while doing the necessary repairs a leak in the radiator was noticed, we thought at that time our day just might be over, the crew went to work and tried what would be considered a temporary fix with no gaurentees and ended up lasting the entire race. We unfortunatly had gone one lap making those repairs but felt if we could get back on the lead lap we did still have a car that was competative. We never did get the oppourtunity however to make up our lap and pit stops happened before another yellow so other cars were then down laps and awarded the "lucky dog" upon the remaining caution laps during the race. We finished 15th, "I'm very dissapointed said Scott, but so proud of the team to enable us to finish the race, I thought it was over for us." Scott got his car slowed as best he could but he and others behind him just could not avoid the incident completely and we were pushed into the incident a bit faster than would have been acceptable. We had to come in for a tire and to try to repair the front end damage on the #00 which this race was pretty bad. The engine had been running a bit on the warm side, and now with the damage to the front grille knew we were in trouble.
