SEED AND GRAIN CLEANING

|seed sizer|seed sizer|corn sizer|bean sizer The Oliver Hi-Cap, Master and Maxi-Cap Gravity Separators are used on
any type or variety of seed and grain cleaning process, low germination
light seeds, brokens, mechanical damage, insect damage or foreign
material. To meet the grower's expectations of high performance seed
the modern seedsman must provide product that has been conditioned over
a gravity separator.

Oliver Manufacturing is the internationally recognized leader in its
ability to solve seed and grain cleaning problems with proven fluidized
bed technology.  Oliver designs and manufacturers a complete line of
gravity separators, stoners and fluidized bed dryers.

The deck overcover provides the friction that pushes the heavier layers
of material up the deck. Therefore, this screen must have a rough
surface texture to do that job efficiently. If the screen feels smooth
to the touch it is worn out, and needs to be replaced. Generally, mild
steel screens will process approximately 1 million pounds of seed and
grain cleaning material before they need to be replaced. Coated
overcovers will last fivet o seven times longer than mild steel on
most products. It is a good idea to check the condition of your
overcover every 100 hours of operation time.

WHAT GRAVITY SEPARATORS CAN AND CANNOT DO

1 - seed and grain cleaning particles of the same size but differing
slightly in specific gravities can be separated.

A common example of this would be the separation of similar size seeds,
the lighter of which has been hollowed out by the insect damage or lack
of development.

2 - Seed and grain particles of the same specific gravities but
differing in the size will be graed according to the size fo the
particles.

A common example of this would be the elimination of shriveled corn
kernels from whole kernels of the same density.

3- Seed and grain particles differing in specific gravities and also
differing in size cannot be efficiently separated on a gravity
separator.

An example of varying sizes and the densities occurs on every ear of
corn. Depending on their location on the ear, corn comes in a variety
of sizes; small rounds, medium rounds, small flat, medium flats and
large flats. Because of growing conditions seed weight varies within a
given size range, Often, separation of unsized corn gives less than
satisfactory seed and grain cleaning results.
